Synopsis

Our client in the chemical industry is looking to employ a Industrialisation Manager who will be responsible for the manufacturing site lead for all new product launches with the aim of establishing safe, efficient and robust manufacturing processes that meet our customer’s quality requirements.

Description

  • Launch of new products according to the Industrialisation business process for the local manufacturing site
  • Manage all new product, process and equipment introductions, with the aim of establishing safe, efficient and robust manufacturing processes at JM CA Germiston
  • Report to the Project and Industrialisation Manager and are responsible for delivering projects from feasibility through to handover to full scale production by the relevant production teams. Main point of contact for Operations, Commercial, Supply Chain, Quality and Technology to ensure that product launches meet the required quality standards, agreed budget and are delivered on schedule
  • In accordance with Group NPI and ePMO frameworks, deliver new products, processes and equipment to CA Germiston Operations
  • Liaising with Regional NPI, Regional Technology, Regional Engineering across the Production Value Stream to facilitate the transfer of product and process knowledge to Operations for new product, process and equipment introductions
  • Support Project Sponsor/s to develop Project Charters and Business Cases for new product, process and equipment introductions to CA Germiston
  • Effective management of resources (people, equipment and materials) needed for new product, process or equipment introductions
  • Manage multiple projects or programmes, from initial scope to handover using project management tools and methodology to meet agreed deadlines
  • Collaborate with Operations support teams, including EHS, Finance, Procurement, SCM and Quality to complete the deliverables required for new product, process and equipment introductions
  • Create project resource plans, determine project costs and prepare project budgets
  • Complete project handover, project closure and provide feedback on lessons learnt
  • Report on the status of all new product, process and equipment introductions using Manufacturing Readiness and Series Production Readiness and Close Out Assessments
  • Support the NPI project engineers by delivering safe, efficient and robust engineering solutions for new product, equipment and system introductions
  • Lead and contribute to hazard studies for the safe introduction of new products, equipment and systems
  • Support the development of the URS (User Requirements Specifications) with the end users for new equipment and systems
  • Support the creation of the FDS (Functional Design Specifications) and Plant Layouts for new equipment and systems in alignment with the NPI processes
  • Work with external suppliers to create engineering solutions which are safe, efficient and robust
  • Conduct design reviews using DFMEA and DRBFM studies to identify the risks and formulate action and control plans for all new equipment and system introductions
  • Conduct training exercises and provide training materials on new processing equipment and systems for all relevant personnel
  • Support the creation of VSOPs, SWES, OPL and training documentation for the safe and effective operation of new processing equipment and systems which are implemented
  • Maintain a database of plant processing capability and the ability to take on New Business with respect to formulation, tooling and coating equipment
  • Support the development of Business Cases for new product, process and equipment introductions to the Clean Air manufacturing site
  • Effective management of resources (people, equipment and materials) needed for new product, process or equipment introductions
  • Organise Local Management and Regional Management Operations Stage-gate review meetings and provide updates on project progress, including resource and budget requirements
  • Monthly reporting of NPI team performance, progress dashboard, operational challenges and improvement opportunities

Requirements

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • University education with a technical focus and relevant NPI and manufacturing experience gained within organisation or externally
  • Proficiency in use of IT programs (SAP, MES, Tirisano, MS Office, SharePoint, Minitab)
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems IATF, ISO16949, ISO14001 and ISO18001
  • Exposure to Purchasing and sourcing environments
  • Exposure to a Project Management environment with a proven track record of successfully delivering on multi-disciplinary complex projects. Project management trained with experience of Prince2, PMI or APM

Desired

  • Exposure to internal auditing and implementation of operational systems
  • Knowledge of local Environmental, Health and Safety practices including COSHH, REACH and MHI
  • Understanding of Lean manufacturing practices desired
