A financial services provider is seeking to employ a Head of Scheme Finance to have an oversight of the Scheme Finance functions of 11 schemes. This includes oversight of non-medical scheme complementary products and the preparation, interpretation and presentation of accurate financial information to stakeholders on a regular basis.


  • Oversee the delivery of accurate and relevant management reports and analysis that add value and insight for the business
  • Manage the implementation and adherence to financial controls and ensure that authorisation levels are adhered to and raise any exceptions with the relevant stakeholder
  • Implement process improvements in order to enhance financial management processes and creates efficiencies
  • Ensures the preparation and provision of the necessary documentation to complete timely audit
  • Contribute to the internal and external audit process and resolve any audit queries within deadlines
  • Oversee the management of the debtors’ book within the debt mandate and ensuring a client-centric approach
  • Oversee the management of the debt collections process with the overall objective of increasing the value of debt collected and reducing the amount of debt created
  • Manage relationships with scheme stakeholders
  • Provide input into operational finance components for complementary products
  • Managing operational finance process efficiencies for complementary products
  • Providing input into the operational finance reporting and system requirements for new complementary products being developed and enhancement to existing products
  • Ensures accurate financial information, monthly management accounts and annual financial statements is submitted timeously to internal and external stakeholders
  • Implement system improvements in order to enhance financial management processes and create efficiencies
  • Build, develop and grow any business relationship that is vital to the achievement of the strategic objectives
  • Provide authoritative, expertise and advice to clients and stakeholders
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal and external stakeholders
  • Effectively lead and manage the scheme finance team to achieve strategic objectives
  • Implement and compile budgets to minimise expenditure in alignment with tactical delivery plans
  • Control the budget for area, including the authorisation of expenditures and implementation of financial regulations
  • Manage high risk and problematic financial issues in area of accountability and contribute to the development of policy


Qualifications and Experience

  • CA (SA)
  • Minimum of 8 years’ relevant experience
  • Experience in the medical scheme financial accounting and reporting
  • Understanding of medical insurance products
  • Understanding of the billing, membership and collections environment
  • Understanding of the corporate finance environment
