Our client in the insurance industry is seeking to employ a Systems Engineer: Microsoft System Centre who is dedicated, adaptable, a self-starter who enjoys working with and learning a wide variety of technologies.



  • The Systems Engineer:  Microsoft System Centre will work within a large and complex team responsible for the configuration, operation, and maintenance of the companies Enterprise mission critical systems, and supporting services
  • The Systems engineer:  Microsoft System Centre is tasked with designing, maintaining and operation the full Microsoft System Centre stack, this includes SCCM (configuration manager), SCOM (Operations Manager), SCSM (Services Manager) and SCORCH (Orchestrator)
  • One of the core competencies required is the ability to integrate the Microsoft System Centre components into a highly optimised ecosystem


  • Collaborates and communicates with peers, customers and leaders of the health, capacity, patch level and overall status of systems
  • Applies the patches and upgrades for systems; performs system checkout and verification of change
  • Ensuring that Microsoft best practise is applied
  • Implements new systems and retires older equipment
  • Develops and follows change management documentation
  • Documents system changes through change management, team process and procedures, configuration management databases and system diagrams
  • Software distribution using MS SCCM on different OS Platforms
  • Create software distribution scripts and packages


  • Pro-actively monitor system uptime availability and maintain the framework for new and existing applications, servers, and services that require monitoring at the enterprise level using Microsoft SCOM and Azure insights
  • Perform administrative tasks including updating and optimizing management packs from the SCOM console
  • Develop reports and dashboards as approved by management
  • Create, modify and troubleshoot SCOM workflows


  • Design and implement SCSM component for Microsoft System Centre 2016 / 19
  • Migrate current ITSM system to newly deployed SCSM environment ensuring all workflows, configuration items and rules are applied to best practises
  • Troubleshoot SCSM failures SCSM including workflow server, data warehouse, reporting data connectors and other related components
  • Create and maintain Service Manager Templates
  • Create, administer and maintain SCSM CMDB
  • Manage the SCSM back end to keep the system running, including upgrades and changes to core components


  • Automate processes utilizing Microsoft System Centre Orchestrator centre, regardless of hardware or platform
  • Standardize best practices to improve operational efficiency
  • Connect systems from different vendors without having to know how to use scripting and programming languages


Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant industry qualifications: Microsoft MSCE with a focus on Microsoft system centre and all components
  • Relevant degree in IT advantageous


Requirements and Skills

  • 4 - 8 years’ experience in a Microsoft System centre enterprise environment
  • Good working knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server, VMware, Nutanix, TCP / IP, and DNS / DHCP
  • Extensive working knowledge of enterprise server hardware
  • Awareness of security industry standards and technologies
  • Strength in solving technical problems and offering creative solutions
  • Ability to excel when working with multi-functional teams on complex IT projects
  • Familiarity with standard methodologies surrounding the proper maintenance and support of a 24x7 server infrastructure
