One of our clients in the Mining industry is seeking to employ a Principal Planning, Data and Analytics Principal Planning, Data and Analytics to manage the integrated programme deployment activities associated with the operational environment related to Portfolio Management execution for Data Analytics.


  • Support Principal Program Manager and key partners in completing related processes and services
  • Lead and execute within the team that performs the following processes and provide services for Data Analytics which include:

-              Portfolio Management - Consolidation, Reporting and Value Realization tracking

-              Resource Planning and Management

-              Vendor Management

-              Stage Gate process development

-              Project & Product Management Framework

-              Risk Management

-              Business Plan Integration

-              Collaboration (including Document Management, Lessons Learned, Portal implementation and other tool implementations)

  • Design, develop, implement and maintain global Project & Product Management processes and tools/systems that enable the consistent delivery of quality initiatives to the business.
  • Design, develop, implement and maintain global Group DA team portal, document management solution and tools and document management governance  
  • Lead and manage resources in DA Programme Management to conduct the following:

-              Align resources to achieve objectives

-              Deliver Projects

-              Develop and implement contingency plans to assure goal achievement and reduce risk

-              Establish, manage and ensure execution of work plans (e.g. targets, budgets, infrastructure, resources, and value tracking processes); continually evaluate priorities and resources to ensure alignment with objectives and strategy

-              Build a high-performing team (e.g. employee goal setting, delegation, coaching, mentoring, development of others)

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with key partners and clients: inform, influence and engage with key stakeholders
  • Build trust and credibility and manage relationships with internal network and external vendors and contacts to achieve business results
  • Promote an open and collaborative environment by encouraging the sharing of information and resources across boundaries
  • Visibly demonstrate SHE behaviour and Anglo American values and hold others accountable for doing the same


Mental Processing Ability

  • Evidence of ability to complete work of III complexity.

Formal qualifications:

  • Required: Formal recognised qualification in Project Management
  • Required: An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors or Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline.
  • Desirable: A postgraduate qualification (Masters or Doctoral degree or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline

Role-specific knowledge:

Track record of assisting with translating ideas into practical initiatives to be implemented and a demonstration of successful execution and delivery of initiatives within the Project Management Office area

  • Knowledge and experience in process design, data management, analysis and reporting activities


  • Provides a consistent outstanding role model in relation to safety practices with a deep understanding of the importance of safety

Technical Skill requirements:

  • Solve technical and operational issues in cooperation with relevant stakeholders. Implements the most effective solutions to drive efficiencies
  • Optimises productivity and quality targets by utilising deep technical expertise and cooperating with multi-disciplinary teams to highlight and address areas of improvement
  • Manages, monitors and drives project activities within a specific project or operation. Proactively escalates risks and proposes mitigating actions
  • Optimise and manage through selection, timing and sequencing a capital project management office in order to ensure both achievability and best practical value contribution, within set parameters

  • Technical Analysis (Level 3)

Applies a systematic, knowledge-based problem-solving approach and structured methodologies (such as root cause analysis and statistical analysis) to investigate risks and opportunities to create effective, value-add technical solutions

Applies an in-depth understanding of the mining value chain to identify and execute on opportunities where technical expertise can enhance business performance. Engages cross-functional teams to share best practice, ensuring technical excellence and sustainable commercial decisions

Translates insights of the global markets into technical solutions to enhance the economics of the mining value chain

  •  Project Management (Level 3)

Drives the delivery of technical solutions in projects and operations by demonstrating project management skills and active resource management, including effective control of budgets, deliverables, staff and contracts

Drives the sharing of project and resource management best practice to continuously improve project capabilities and resource management. Acts as an ambassador for project management best practice
