A leading telecommunication organisation has an opening for a Senior Manager: Manco Rewards, Recognition and Wellness. The purpose of the role is to deploy and comply with Manco policies relating to rewards, recognition and wellness as well as ensuring alignment with the Global Rewards, Talent and Experience framework.


  • Create strategy for Manco Rewards and Recognition in line with overarching functional goals and Global Rewards, with emphasis on employee experience.
  • Ensure effective implementation of strategy by means of providing direction, structure, business plans and support in alignment with the group requirements.
  • Source, induct, and manage talent in accordance with legislative guidelines.
  • Continually develop a culture of strong collaboration and effective team working.
  • Ensure open communication channels with staff and implement change management interventions where necessary.
  • Provide definition of roles, responsibilities, individual goals and performance objectives for the team.
  • Participate and provide input in strategic meetings.
  • Provide inputs to enterprise wide transformation initiatives.
  • Provide inputs to and ensure adequate risk mitigation and controls.
  • Escalate issues that will result in severe time, scope, productivity, and cost or resource impact.
  • Manage and provide solutions to escalations that have multiple processes or functions impact on critical path of service delivery.
  • Ensure alignment with Global Rewards team to manage the Manco Rewards, Recognition and Wellness.
  • Measure the success of customised Manco requirements while enhancing employee experience and engagement.
  • Manage and ensure complete accountability for end to end operational delivery for the Rewards, Recognition and Wellness suite of services for the organisation in South Africa.
  • Ensure continuous improvement to ensure Rewards, Recognition and Wellness policies, processes and initiatives are effective, relevant and sustainable for the organisation in South Africa.
  • Be a trusted advisor, display maturity and subject matter expertise to stakeholders including Manco Leadership and Business Talent Partner teams to achieve organisation excellence.
  • Recommend to the GM to manage, prioritise and enable implementation of strategic programs, initiatives and projects specific to Rewards, Recognition and Wellness for the organisation South Africa.
  • Manage the bonus or variable and salary change process including computations, seeking approvals and authorisation to ESC payroll processing teams for Manco, in conjunction with the global rewards mandate
  • Standardise and align benefits programs and service providers for Manco with the Global Benefits model or empanelled service provider network.
  • Localise and manage the integrated wellbeing policies and initiatives with Global Wellness framework and mission for the organisation.
  • Ensure that personal, physical, emotional and communal well-being commitments and priorities are appropriately addressed across Manco.
  • Manage the integrated wellness program for Manco which includes launch of initiatives, commissioning and management of professional services, coordination and delivery, in conjunction with engagement and internal communications.
  • Collaborate with engagement and internal communications to manage wellness initiatives and events at Manco.
  • Coordinate and work closely with Business Talent Partners on regular intervals to understand as well as enable continuous improvement and seek guidance on specific issues, devising custom solutions for rewards and recognition for Manco.


  • 4-year tertiary degree in Commerce, Finance, Mathematics, Sciences, Management or Human Resources.
  • MBA, Masters or Chartered Accountancy would be advantageous.
  • Relevant certification, accreditation or membership with professional body relevant to compensation, benefits and recognition.
  • Manager track record of 5 years or more.
  • Must have at least 3 years of relevant experience in Compensation, Benefits, Recognition and Wellness.
  • Must have worked across diverse cultures and geographies.
  • Experience working in a medium to large organisation.
  • Project management experience (Recognition and Wellness initiatives).
  • Financial or Numeracy experience.
  • Experience in telecommunication business would be advantageous.
