Our client, a distinguished financial and services organisation is currently seeking an individual to assume the role of Senior Accountant. The successful incumbent will be responsible for the full accounting and financial control function for an investment organisation.


  • Compile trial balance and month end financial reports.
  • Compile detailed ledger reconciliations and investigation of reconciling items.
  • Follow up and resolving recon items.
  • Prepare income statement and balance sheet analyses.
  • Scrutinise account details and correct misallocations.
  • Process month end entries.
  • Process monthly payments to fund managers.
  • Prepare daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Follow up on operational queries or queries from fund managers.
  • Assist other team members when required.
  • Produce monthly management reports.
  • Prepare quarterly packs for the organisation reporting.
  • Prepare annual Financial Statements.
  • Prepare monthly VAT reconciliation.
  • Prepare provisional and final tax calculations and reconciliation.
  • Assume responsibility for providing information as required by auditors during annual audit.
  • Prepare information as required by Financial Manager on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Portfolio accounting on a product and asset classification level.
  • Identify risks and implement necessary controls in the finance area.
  • Ensure effective financial management and corporate governance.
  • Take accountability for the management of organisation related risks.
  • Ensure optimised customer service when dealing directly with end-user clients.
  • Ensure that all queries and problems are resolved effectively and appropriately.
  • Contribute to a service culture which builds rewarding relationships, proposes innovations and allows others to provide exceptional client service.
  • Share and transfer product, process and systems knowledge to colleagues.
  • Ensure achievement of own performance objectives.


  • BCom or Honours Accounting degree with articles.
  • 5 years plus relevant financial accounting experience in the Investment industry.
  • LISP Experience and JDE knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Sound knowledge of IFRS and accounting principles and practices.
  • Auditing experience and articles would be advantageous.
  • Oracle experience would be advantageous.
