Synopsis

A prominent organisation in the insurance industry is currently seeking for an individual to assume the role of Financial Manager. The successful incumbent will be responsible for managing compliance with the relevant laws and standards governing financial reports for the SPV’s and Private Equity Portfolio and enhance the financial and operational processes to mitigate financial and business risk.

Description

  • Manage the full financial accounting for the SPV’s and Equity Investments, including journals, balance sheet recons, etc (in line with IFRS and best practise).
  • Manage the underwriting accounting for run-off schemes not in BU’s, including review of balance sheet recons and journals.
  • Mange the portfolio of partner loans (including repayments, advancements, interest etc. on Loan System) and advise on deviations.
  • Manage the collation of partner results to track equity earnings and identify areas of concern.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit process for the SPV’s (and any run off schemes as required).
  • Submit SPV information required by Group Finance for the preparation of the annual consolidated financial statements.
  • Ensure appropriate level of tax compliance through liaison with Tax department and review of certain tax returns for the SPV’s.
  • Assist with the completion of the SPV tax returns (incl. provisional returns).
  • Submit monthly VAT input and output disclosures for HEP to Tax for the organisation’s VAT returns.
  • Manage the annual Budget process for the SPV’s, Equity Investments and divisional operating expenses in line with Group guidelines.
  • Prepare OSU Budget Pack for Budget Committee approval.
  • Manage the year-end valuation process for equity investments and SPV’s (includes preparation and review of investment valuations).
  • Prepare ad hoc valuations for potential transactions (disposals and acquisitions).
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders (including Investment Partners, Business and Specialist Finance Teams).

Requirements

  • CA (SA).
  • CA (SA) with 5 years post articles experience.
  • Financial Services (Banking or Insurance) experience required.
  • Sound IFRS reporting experience would be an added advantage.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of GP, Salmon/ GRID and Hyperion systems.
