Synopsis

A well-established food processing organisation is currently seeking a highly analytical individual to assume the role of Finance Manager. The successful incumbent will be responsible for all accounting activities that are carried out within the organisation as well as overseeing accountants who are found within the organisations various sub divisions.

Description

  • Maintain the cost centers trail balance and general ledgers.
  • Prepare monthly reporting and tax packs, flash results and forecasts (Monthly, quarterly and semi-annual forecasts) for the organisation and its shareholders.
  • Prepare board packs as and when required for board meetings.
  • Coordinate the consolidated reporting and ensure compliance with the organisations policies and deadlines.
  • Assist with inter / external audit areas and responsibilities.
  • Prepare annual budgets and compare them with actual results.
  • Ensure that all reconciliations are completed as well as resolve all queries.
  • Settle and process month-end journals.
  • Prepare annual Financial Statements and reconciliations in support of year end audits and financial year closure.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers of the organisation.
  • Ensure the accurate recording and reconciliation of all banking transactions.
  • Maintain loan agreements and general loan administration.
  • Prepare payment instructions to the Bank, submit and control payment executions and reconcile back to the company.
  • Analyse profit and loss position, providing management feedback on variances to budget.
  • Carry out accounting and administration for invoice discounting, commodity finance, and overdraft facilities.
  • Support the development of budgets.
  • Ensure tax compliance.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local government officials.
  • Engage local banks and secure debt facilities where required.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with internal treasury function as well as key corporate support functions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with the functional accountants in the business units to ensure timeous and correct submission of financials.

Requirements

  • Chartered Accountant qualification.
  • Over 5 years’ experience in accounting and financial management functions.
  • Significant experience performing complex financial analysis.
  • Fluency in Portuguese is advantageous.
  • Experience and knowledge of the various food industries in Africa is advantageous.
  • Experience in sub-Saharan Africa.
