Synopsis

The main purpose of the role is to provide high quality service, in line with procedures and compliance guidelines, to achieve maximum customer satisfaction through the timeous and accurate interpretation and processing (capture and release) of client payment and deposit instructions.

Key responsibilities:

Impact on the Business and Business Effectiveness

  • To accurately and timeously process / action client instructions for payment related transactions within the limits of authority, utilizing the applicable FX rate (when applicable) and within the stipulated cut-off times, done in line with the policies and procedures, with no compliance or regulatory breaches, for the following products - Inward & Outward RTGS transactions, - Inward and outward ACH/EFT transactions, - Manual SWIFT processing - Inter account transfers / account funding - MT940 transaction downloads, (Nedinform) - Manual Payments (including call backs to customers), - Vouchers, - Queries - Investigations - Reconciliations - Collecting and paying of charges - FX Retail Deals for inflight transactions - Settlement of Forward Exchange Contracts - Sanction Screening actioning and referrals
  • Where required escalate transactions to Compliance in line with relevant compliance policies.  Follow up for timeous replies.
  • Process accurately and error free so as to ensure there are no operational losses due to processing or other errors
  • Perform monitoring functions (i.e. ACH, EFT, MT940, HNET2, HNET3, day end processes) within the stipulated timeframes with any exceptions escalated to management.
  • Address and resolve queries and investigations within the stipulated turnaround times, or escalate to management accordingly.
  • Action relevant day end or exception queries including reconciliations of accounts, filing, collation of statistics.
  • Perform various follow up activities with stakeholders as required.
  • To identify and recommend business changes to enhance the business environment
  • Identify common frauds/errors/irregular transactions and take appropriate action in accordance with relevant procedures.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • A strong working knowledge high value, low value and cross border Payment types required. 
  • Understanding of Treasury products
  • A general knowledge of Exchange Control Regulations is an advantage
  • A tertiary education preferred
  • SWIFT experience
