A leading financial exchange is currently seeking an individual to assume the role of Investor Relations Officer. The successful incumbent will be responsible for providing investors and other key stakeholders with an accurate and fair assessment of the organisation’s strategy, financial targets and overall performance, which enable investors to make informed investment decisions.


  • Apply cost effectiveness principles in planning and delivery to contribute to achievement of divisional financial targets.
  • Formalise, plan, negotiate and manage divisional budget to ensure cost effective delivery of all divisional and the organisation’s objectives.
  • Ensure alignment with the organisation’s strategies and key regulations, to prevent reputational risk for the organisation by planning departmental and project timelines, 6 months in advance.
  • Deliver punctual departmental and organisational objectives and project deadlines through strict adherence to internal requirements, Companies Act and various other regulations and policies which get signed off by executive and board members.
  • Understand the competitive environment so as to provide a fair position of the organisation to investors on strategic and financial information to ensure deliverables are met.
  • Interpret investor and stakeholder feedback and information so as to compile monthly reports for executive meetings and quarterly reports to the organisations board to make recommendations to improve the organisations strategies and regulations.
  • Balance short term investor expectations through various communication channels, so as to link to the organisation’s long-term strategies, regulations and compliance.
  • Develop and demonstrate a thorough understanding of the organisations strategies and regulations by ensuring timeous and correct communication to investors, so as to prevent reputational risk and enhance the organisation’s standing.
  • Build strategic, industry and global networks through utilising all available communication channels, attending and hosting meetings, conferences and training interventions.
  • Build relationships with investors by regularly communicating the financial standing of the organisation and its strategies to them, so as to build confidence in existing and potential investors of the organisation through various communication channels.
  • Maintain the credibility of the organisation and ensure efficient delivery of its objectives by regularly informing the stakeholders and investors of any changes to its deliverables and strategy.
  • Build trust with investors and stakeholders by keeping up to date with the organisation’s financial strategy, regulations and corporate governance and fully understanding it.
  • Engage regularly with stakeholders and investors by hosting national and international road shows, inviting them to conferences and investor meetings, so as to build sustainable relationships.
  • Manage own delivery against divisions delivery plan and set timelines, identify obstacles to delivery and take appropriate action where required.
  • Monitor regulation and strategy amendments and communicate the most updated information to the investors so as to ensure compliance and that standards are met according to Board requirements and industry best practice.
  • Ensure delivery to timelines by consistently having project meetings, reflecting on lessons learnt and conducting a gap analysis.
  • Manage risk by keeping up to date with the compliance of regulations, policies, and strategies to ensure that correct communication to investors and stakeholders is distributed through various communication channels.


  • Degree, Honours B Com degree in Economics or Finance with a Communication Degree.
  • Honours, Masters in Economics or Finance.
  • 3 - 5 years’ experience in an investor relations position at a senior level.
  • Basic software applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Internet, Email).
  • Data analysis skills.
  • Communication Strategies.
  • Resource allocation principles.
