Synopsis

Our client, a prominent global advisory firm, is currently seeking a dedicated individual to assume the role of Senior Financial Accountant. The successful incumbent will be responsible for ensuring that the organisations finance records are up to date, accurate and that their delivery is in line with group reporting requirements.

Description

  • Support the Controller of Financial Accounting and Senior Controller in review of activities required to maintain a fully and appropriately staffed team.
  • Close communication with the team and Financial Controllers to ensure all requirements are met and an understanding of deliverables is adequately covered.
  • Manage and review primary bookkeeping functions carried out by finance team. This includes reviewing allocations of input data, and results for completeness.
  • Manage the main balance sheet control accounts, including corrections and detailed reviews of monthly general ledger reconciliations, including debtors, creditors, salaries, bank and inter-company accounts.
  • Manage and control assets, including fixed assets and debtors.
  • Conduct regular reconciliation of control accounts including all bank accounts.
  • Adhere to authorised approval procedures for expenditure and cash control.
  • Adherence to signing policy.
  • Adhere to all statutory and regulatory compliance including adherence to requirements of the local regulator.
  • Adhere to the organisations internal audit policies and procedures.
  • Support cost cutting measures and streamlining processes.
  • Engage with the various business leaders in the preparation of budget data and forecasts in accordance with predetermined deadlines and budgeting parameters.
  • Prepare year-end audit files and liaising with auditors and Group Financial Control to ensure that audited Annual Financial Statements including consolidations are completed within predetermined deadlines and according to IFRS and other local standards.
  • Prepare and file all local taxation returns and dealing with taxation authorities.
  • Ensure that accounting and financial reporting procedures and formats are in accordance with local management and firm requirements and standards.
  • Prepare monthly management accounts including commentary, ensuring that predetermined reporting deadlines are met.
  • In conjunction with Group Reporting, ad hoc reporting as required to support the decision makers in the various businesses.
  • Review and process all payroll entries for certain offices, ensuring all ledger reconciliations remain clear.
  • Conduct accurate recording of all salary related entries into the nominal ledger.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliation of all payroll related accounts.
  • Conduct reconciliation of all ancillary payroll payments, i.e. PAYE, Provident Fund deductions, Medical etc Cash Flow, Forecasting and Budgets.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree.
  • Articles (advantageous).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • CA(SA) or equivalent (advantageous).
  • Experience in all aspects of multi-currency, multi-company, and multi-jurisdictional accounting.
  • Experience in all aspects of budgeting, forecasting, and maintaining other planning and control procedures.
