Synopsis

Our client, a leading financial services provider is seeking a specialised Corporate Attorney with experience in Technology, Media and Telecommunications to occupy a Senior Legal Advisor role. The successful incumbent will be responsible for consulting and managing corporate legal processes and advising internal clients on technology, privacy and commercial related risks.

Description

  • Provide opinions and guidance on legal issues
  • Research and guard company against legal risks
  • Review commercial transactions and advise our company on the legal rights and obligations
  • Attend consultations and negotiations with corporate clients
  • Advise clients on the implications of the Protection of Personal
  • Information Act ("POPI"), conducting POPI training for clients and preparing action plans to ensure
  • compliance with POPI
  • Consult and handle corporate legal processes inclusive but not limited to Intellectual Property,
  • Mergers and Acquisitions, Financial Securities offerings, Compliance, Transaction agreements, Lawsuits and Patents)
  • Develop company policy and position on legal issues
  • Research, anticipate and guard company against legal risks
  • Guide managers and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
  • Structure, draft and review reports and other legal documents
  • Negotiate deals and attend company meetings
  • Review, draft and negotiate technology related contracts with external vendors, including: ICT Procurement Agreements, Services Agreements, Service Level Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements, Consulting Services, Agreements, Software Licensing Agreements, Software Development, Agreements, Software Configuration Agreements, Hardware Related, Agreements, Support and Maintenance Agreements, Outsourcing and Insourcing Agreements, Data Transfer Agreements and Protection of Personal Information Agreements
  • Liaise with and managing external counsel on outsourced legal matters
  • Prepare risk analysis reports for executive committee members advising them on the risks of entering into certain agreements and transactions
  • Manage of the central legal mailbox
  • Provide feedback and advice to management committees
  • Provide legal opinions to internal clients

Requirements

  • NQF Level
  • Advanced Diplomas / National 1st Degrees
  • Bachelor of Arts: Law, Advanced Diplomas/National 1st Degrees
  • Admission as an Attorney
  • Proven comparable law firm experience in the TMT environment
  • Proven background on corporate law (contract law, tax law, accounting, Technology, intellectual property rights, licensing,)
  • Excellent negotiation and communications skills
