Join a pharmaceutical company as a Commercial and Reporting Finance Manager and oversee the required reports internal, external and statutory which are required to keep the various stakeholders up to date.


  • Provide full ownership and accountability of month end, forecast, budget and year end reporting processes
  • Adhere to all deadlines communicated by Group – requesting extensions should be kept to a minimum unless there are extenuating circumstances
  • Provide accurate, timely submission into the GSS/GFS and any other group reporting data bases (non-negotiable)
  • Full management of COGNOS system to ensure that all differences are resolved prior to locking
  • Critically review/analyse Cognos/TM1 management accounts to ensure that all anomalies are rectified prior to locking/publishing
  • Publish management accounts on time, with high level commentary explaining key drivers (hard numbers vs. good stories)
  • Monitor and review on an ongoing basis the system of internal and accounting control and make and / or recommend changes thereto
  • Perform continuous assessment of the close process and process re-engineering to reduce the timing to close the financial period
  • Maintain comprehensive accounting policy documents to improve clarity and consistency
  • Compile, communicate and explain timelines, accounting issues and evolving accounting guidance to the management team
  • Prepare year end sign off packs
  • Provide accurate, timely submission of segmented Income Statement in line with Group requirements together with high level commentary explaining key drivers
  • Provide accurate, timely preparation/consolidation and submission of the Group 5-year plan in line with Group requirements together with high level commentary explaining key drivers
  • Provide meaningful, comprehensive responses to any Group queries within the shortest time possible (e.g. 1 pager executive summary, stat reporting, working capital queries, GST, stat margins, 5-year plan, etc.)
  • Ensure that all reporting packs are readily available, saved in an easily accessible location and reflect the latest, most accurate set of results
  • General maintenance of all reporting packs (monthly, forecast and budget)
  • Review and approve journals timeously
  • Ensure completeness of all journals and that it is accurately reflecting in the management accounts
  • Analyse and understand data within the accounting records to ensure completeness, accuracy, validity and correct disclosure according to standards and regulations
  • Support the business through analytical analysis of profitability with recommendations for improvements
  • Analyse and prepare meaningful commentary on Statutory reporting for presentation to the CFO in preparation for monthly, forecast and budget review meetings with the Group Executives
  • Full ownership of all systems used for financial reporting to ensure that input and output exceeds the standards of customers
  • Ensure that all required changes have been made to the TM1 and Cognos reporting systems (accurate mapping of accounts, cost centers, locking of reporting periods, maintenance of management accounts hierarchy and reports, etc.)



  • Matric pass minimum
  • Qualified CA (SA)
  • 2+ years post article experience
  • Pharmaceutical and commercial exposure would be an advantageous
  • Computer literacy: proficiency in excel, word, PowerPoint and a fully integrated computer system e.g. SAP, TM1
  • Prior experience in the interpretation and use of accounting/auditing standards and the Companies Act
  • Understanding of ERP systems
