Provide in depth specialist 2nd level application support to multiple business critical applications including but not limited to market trading, clearing and integration systems at a leading financial services provider as an Application Support and Automation Specialist.


  • Provide strategic thinking and contributions to crafting of departmental business plan based on professional knowledge and experience to ensure delivery of focus areas for the year in support of IT strategy
  • Ensure systems, products or projects delivered contributes to improve client / company service by providing input on budgets, resources required and process based on the understanding of costs, business objectives and relationship with external suppliers and stakeholders
  • Contribute as professional taking responsibility for both operational and strategic initiatives
  • Ensure results are delivered on time and to standard by prioritising incidents, problems request and changes by adhering to Service Level Agreements, Operation Level Agreements and project time lines
  • Ensure and main tain in-depth knowledge of business critical trading and integration system interdependencies and potential risks to the company's business
    Offer senior subject matter expertise for applications and supply solutions to problems related an application
    Identify, Implement and Maintain application monitoring, performance tuning and testing as an ongoing task to ensure deliverables are met
  • Provide timely and expert advice on emerging trends and issues affecting application
  • Conduct / take part in post incident reviews as a technical subject matter expert
  • Apply cost effectiveness principles in planning and delivery to contribute to achievement of divisional financial targets
  • Form part of the crisis management team in a support or advisory function in the event of a priority 1 crisis
  • Creates or develops and automate new and better products or services
  • Manage own delivery against departmental delivery plan and set timelines, identify obstacles to delivery and take appropriate action where required
  • Provide 2nd level specialist critical application support where 1st
  • Receive notification, assess details and respond appropriately to tasks for application changes from technical teams by approving or declining the request, based on a technical impact assessment
  • Manage application maintenance tasks
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for implementing application related tasks outside own area from end to end to facilitate change management
  • Ensure workflow documentation is created and application knowledge base is updated to ensure the most recent and relevant information is available
  • Monitor system health intraday proactively
  • Transfer knowledge and skills across the team
  • Assist with the creation and execution of disaster recovery plan for company applications within our area of responsibility


  • 10 years in IT of which 3 - 5 y ears as senior technical lead with extensive hands on experience in the administration of SQL, Microsoft, Oracle, RedHat and Linux platforms
  • Skills Basic software applications (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, Internet, Email)
