A leading financial services provider is seeking a Human Capital Business Partner to deliver the business unit’s human capital strategy aligned to key business and human capital priorities and formulate partnerships across the HC fraternity to deliver value-added services to management and employees that reflect and meets the business objectives of the organisation.


  • Develops strategies for people management, succession planning, and talent management for key managerial positions and key stakeholders
  • Provides guidance and input on workforce planning, business unit restructures, and succession planning, ensuring that core HR processes are applied appropriately and in a legally compliant manner
  • Develops, implements and monitors a tactical and operational HC plan to address identified gaps
  • Build and manage objective working relationships with various stakeholders with the aim of being recognised as a trusted advisor and living the company’s principles and values
  • Drives the transformation strategy successfully integrated into the Business Unit or Functional Area specific HC strategy.  Identify and operationalise Business Unit specific actions to contribute towards the bank-wide Transformation Plan
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to the business through coaching, career development, counselling, and disciplinary actions
  • Implements talent management processes for all employees in all departments within the business and provides thought-leadership on issues that may avail improved operation and performance of the business and the HC fraternity
  • Provides support to stakeholders by coaching them into thinking innovatively about their work processes and team structures with a view of improving the business’s overall efficiencies
  • Conducts regular meetings with the various business units, builds and develops trusted relationships with the various leaderships to maintain healthy relationships across the organisation
  • Oversees and manages complex employee-relations issues, supporting formal appeals and hearings while simultaneously coaching the relevant managers on management best practices
  • Partners with other HC Centres of Excellence in determining approaches to matters of recruitment, compensation, and other functions to ensure that the programs in place are effective and efficient
  • Actively participates and contributes to the formulation of solutions for the HC department, business units, and business-wide challenges
  • Connect HC data with business data to demonstrate an aspect of the organisation that business leaders should be informed about to help them make decisions
  • Enable HC leaders to design and implement HC management activities in an efficient and effective manner
  • Analyses trends and metrics in partnership with the HC fraternity to develop and enhance solutions, processes, programs and policies that address current problems and avoid future ones
  • Assists in measuring, validating, and testing the effectiveness of metrics applied by business to assess and drive productivity optimization
  • Provide management information and monitor trends in respect of Employment Equity target and measures


  • Bachelor’s degree with Human Resources or Psychology as a major
  • Honours degree (advantageous)
  • working with multiple HC disciplines, i.e.: employee relations, compensation practices, organisational design, performance management, recruitment, and employment laws
  • 5 – 8 years in a Human Capital related role with business exposure
  • Knowledge of Human Capital functional capabilities and/or programs and policies
  • Banking industry would be advantageous
