Synopsis

Join a leading financial services group seeking to invest in exceptional individuals for a Data Scientist role specialising in People Analytics. The successful incumbent will turn data into information, information into insight and insight into action using latest data science tools and techniques. This includes interviews, hiring, manager effectiveness and compensation.

Description

  • Identify, build and implement appropriate models for use in the company
  • Monitor model performance and using feedback for improvement
  • Mining and visualising large structured and unstructured datasets to find new insights to inform operational efficiency and interaction strategies
  • Ability to ETL data from primary and / or secondary data sources
  • Interpret data using methodologies such as machine-learning, pattern recognition, signal processing etc. and present data and model findings in a way that provides actionable insights
  • Demonstrate data wrangling and data munging capabilities to clean and transform data into a fit-for-purpose business state
  • Automate analysis through libraries and utilities, then build functions into production-level code
  • Embed results into business processes and priorities (end-to-end delivery) by working with management to prioritize business and information needs
  • Liaise with data stewards to understand data-related issues that affect the business and undertake remedial action as required
  • Communicate findings clearly and responsively to a range of different stakeholders in order to inform and educate them
  • Proactively identify and define new process improvement opportunities on both data processes and business processes
  • Experience with version control and peer code review systems, in particular formulating, developing and embedding data governance practices associated with data quality and integrity

Requirements

  • Honours or Master’s degree in either Data Science, Statistics, Operations Research or Applied Mathematics
  • 5 years + experience in software engineering, computer science or working with big disparate sets of data
  • Honours or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • 5 years + experience in data science including statistical modelling, data mining, machine learning and optimisation
  • Other analytical qualifications will also be considered if accompanied by the relevant experience
  • Solid understanding of statistics and machine learning with practical experience applying these techniques is imperative
  • Advanced experience in at least one statistical modelling language or tool (R, Python etc.), preferably more than one
  • Advanced SQL and Excel skills is a must
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with BI/DataViz tools (Qlikview, Power BI etc.)
