Synopsis

Implement and monitor sound governance practices and develop governance learning and development strategies across the company and its subsidiaries, at a leading financial services provider for a Senior Manager role specialising in governance. Relevant regulatory and relevant software and systems knowledge will be advantageous for this role.

Description

  • Ensure the company’s policies and practices are aligned with and contribute to; meeting the principles of King IV and any other governance best-practice codes, where relevant
  • Provide training to staff and directors of the company and its operating subsidiaries on King IV and other relevant governance codes and practices, ensuring content is aligned with and customised to fit the relevant company or cluster objective
  • As the expert on governance codes, fulfil an advisory role to boards and executives
  • Ensure the practical application and the adoption of King IV principles by the company’s and its subsidiaries
  • Report on governance for both internal and external stakeholders, including for integrated- reporting purposes
  • Monitor business and ensure King IV and other governance practices are proactively being met and fulfilled during the course of the year
  • Provide a review of the governance role in the company’s and the repositioning thereof, if necessary, based on best practice and industry practice, within relevant budgetary and resource constraints
  • Provide stakeholders with guidance and advice on governance requirements through awareness communication and formal learning and development interventions and respond to stakeholders’ queries with a view to ensuring that compliance requirements are met
  • Provide assurance to the company’s board and Group Directors' Affairs Committee in respect of governance practices of all company entities by reporting on governance-related incidences and matters, ensuring sound governance practices and corrective actions, where necessary
  • Management and staff of all the company’s subsidiaries and clusters, regulators, relevant governing bodies and boards of directors

Requirements

  • Relevant business or legal degree
  • Postgraduate degree in Law (preferred)
  • 8-10 years’ experience in a governance-related environment, preferably in the financial services sector
  • Relevant regulatory knowledge
  • Industry trends
  • Relevant software and systems knowledge
  • Identifying and interpreting regulatory risk trends
  • Interpreting legislative requirements
  • Monitoring adherence to and compliance with requirements
  • Analysing and interpreting quantitative and qualitative data
