Main purpose of this role to ensure integrated and consistent brand architecture to leverage and position the company value proposition. Lead and integrated message and communication strategy inclusive of external media relations and stakeholder public relations and national company internal communications. Ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of operational marketing management processes.


Key Responsibilities:

Developing And Implementing A Communication Management Strategy 

  • Manage company on-going communication, customer service needs for the purposes of ensuring that organisation- wide communication initiatives are current. This includes overseeing the content, of all major brochures and other external and internal communication for use of various marketing vehicles, maintaining and updating the company’s website and intranet development needs (e.g. newsletters, news flashes)
  • Facilitate an organisational understanding of alternative promotion practices, methodologies and how these can be leveraged across the national footprint.
  • Advice senior leaders, including the CEO and direct reports, on progress in public perception of company using outside tracking processes.
  • Manage monthly and daily tracking of SA attitudes about company’ reputation and brand among both donors and the general public.

Communication Management Through Appropriate Systems

  • Define and establish media relations and communication strategies, policies and templates for company to ensure integration and consistency of messages through appropriate media and communication channels.
  • Maximise opportunities for company media coverage (broadcast; online; print) etc.
  • Establish stakeholder insight forums to monitor quality, governance and consistency of company messages.

Ensuring Aligned Implementation Of Communication And Customer Initiatives And 

  • Ensure regular feedback from business partners and stakeholders to ensure integration, relevance and business alignment of communication support; collate and analyse feedback to identify trends and generate market intelligence insights.
  • Determine, plan, consolidate, manage and control medium-to-long term budgets for customer service and communication function taking into account budget priorities and constraints.
  • Manage and leverage departmental synergies to generate integrated communication solutions.
  • Manage customer service and feedback for inbound call centre
  • Ensure turnaround time and responses rate to calls, sms and email queries are attended to timeously.
  • Implementation of customer feedback system to maintain donor satisfaction.

People Managed To Achieve Operational Objectives

  • Deal with conflict and disciplinary issues and takes appropriate corrective actions in accordance with company Policy on matters related to misconduct & incapacity (performance & ill-health), with a view to improving productivity.
  • Track & drive individual development plans for all staff by identifying general training and staff development needs & ensures staff attends organized training programmes.
  • Conduct ongoing performance management on all direct reports by monitoring performance on ongoing basis through coaching, reviews according to agreed timeframes and takes appropriate steps to correct problems.
  • Build staff morale and motivate team by ensuring regular two-way communication with staff on all general staff matters such as Principles of Excellence, team building, SOP’s, policy changes, etc. through meetings with agenda & minutes.
  • Manage staff resourcing for provision of adequate personnel for cost-effective running of department in accordance with the company Employment Equity strategy, targets and plans.


Minimum Requirements: 

  • Post graduate Communications and Marketing
  • 5- 7 years-experience at Senior Management level
  • Have worked with communications strategies from the concept to implementation stage
