Synopsis

Our client is seeking a qualified and experienced Strategic Sourcing Specialist. The role is expected to support execution of category management, strategic sourcing; contracting and supplier management activities across various categories in the company enabling a procurement function that will support the Head of Procurement.

Description

Responsibilities / Outputs       

  • Provide strategic thinking and contributions to crafting of 1 – 3 year procurement business plan based on professional knowledge and experience, to ensure delivery of focus areas for the year in support of divisional and the company strategy
  • Apply cost effectiveness principles in planning and delivery to contribute to achievement of divisional financial targets and own cost reduction targets / policies to implement/contracts to review and approve
  • Implement plans to assure orders meet specified quality and delivery times, minimise the total cost of purchases and contracts are review, approved and implemented that shows a bottom line impact and process efficiencies
  • Manage allocated budget through monitoring and seeking cost effective ways to achieve departmental goals
  • Ensure systems, products or projects delivered contributes to improve client service by providing input on budgets, resources required and process based on the understanding of costs, business objectives and relationship with external suppliers and stakeholders
  • Provide informed input to business on the number of suppliers / contracts, expiry dates as well as market analysis on products and suppliers as part of strategic sourcing and procurement function
  • Contribute as professional taking responsibility for both operational and strategic initiatives
  • Provide specialist knowledge and educate business units regarding standard procurement policies
  • Communicate effectively with employees at all levels in the organisation, external business partners and vendors to build and maintain stakeholder relationships
  • Drive Supplier Relationship Management in managing supplier relationships to ensure collaboration throughout the contracting process
  • Build strategic Industry/ Global network of thought leaders and relationships utilising social media, attending and presenting at conferences and training interventions
  • Manage supplier relationships by establishing and maintaining rapport with all levels of supplier personnel and internal customers
  • Manage own delivery against agreed delivery plan and set timelines, identify obstacles to delivery and take appropriate action where required
  • Ensure that work is delivered consistently to plan through regular progress update meetings with business
  • Create and maintain an up to date, visible and accessible repository of procurement contract information indicating vendor, contract value, goods or services for which the contract exists; as well as flags indicating upcoming contract renewal or termination
  • Prepare and administer correspondence and contract documentation throughout the life cycle of a contract, including
  • Enhance third party agreement while complying to legal agreement standards and get legal representative approval continuously to take into account any changes in legislation, service requirements and financial obligations, etc.
  • Support the internal stakeholders in achieving their procurement business results through appropriate engagement with relevant vendors
  • Communicate contract negotiations, request for proposals, reports etc. deadlines as agreed
  • Respond to requests for relevant information, quotations, proposals, and bidding processes to meet stakeholder needs
  • Establish supplier base negotiate contracts with suppliers on behalf of business and drive contract development process in coordination with the Head of Procurement and Legal department
  • Evaluate current and potential suppliers in coordination with business requirements
  • Gather supplier spend, number of contracts, number of suppliers and what is addressable and address the spend
  • Conduct research and analysis of supplier market by checking which suppliers provide services in the different categories (IT, HR, Marketing, etc) and then do a due diligence on new on exercise existing suppliers
  • Develop and agree baseline and savings evaluation to determine what is the overall spend and what percentage of that spend we can address and target for savings
  • Develop sourcing strategies and implementation path as strategies that are business unit specific on their supplier spend, contracts, etc.
  • Conclude main contracts with the sourced suppliers to be reviewed and tailored to any new specifications agreed with legal to best practice level
  • Supplier Implementation and on-going maintenance by conducting supplier on boarding and maintaining supplier information and managing their performance
  • Deliver on supplier diversity goals and increase spend and opportunities for black and women owned suppliers

 

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Commerce degree or relevant bachelor or diploma qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Strategic Sourcing within a corporate purchasing environment
  • Supporting an IT Division or Dept. is strongly recommended
