A South African based financial services group listed on the JSE is in search of a Chief Financial Officer. The group operates in the market through multiple client - facing brands including insurance and investment brands globally through a direct presence, strategic partnerships and joint ventures.


  • Develop and manage a best practice framework for the Finance function and to offer business insights and advice on strategy formulation and business direction based on financial result interpretation
  • Providing strategic financial leadership to the company
  • Ensuring effective and professional reporting and control of funding and budgets
  • Oversee the effective financial management and strategic guidance to all networks that form part of the company
  • Ensure the development and implementation of sound reporting framework to enable effective decision making
  • Design and crag the finance strategy to support the business strategy oversee an effective Financial Management Function / Practice
  • Ensure an effective and efficient Governance, Audit and Risk Management function / practice Ensure an effective and efficient procurement practice
  • Oversee the delivery of insight into the financial performance of respective networks Contribute to financial controls and planning
  • Oversee the budgeting and financial reporting process and implement sound financial controls



  • Post graduate degree in Bachelor of Commerce Accounting or Financial Management
  • Registered Chartered Accountant with South African Institute of Chartered Accountants
  • Actuarial background and an understanding of insurance company financials is an advantage
  • Practical knowledge of auditing environment will be an added advantage Knowledge of RDR and impact on a financial institution will be an added advantage
  • Expertise knowledge of all finance legislation as required by Treasury like Generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP / GRAP, PFMA, PPPFA, ), International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Treasury Regulations, Income Tax Act and other statutory requirements and risk management principles
  • 5 – 7 years of financial management experience within the Financial Services Industry / Insurance Industry
  • 5 – 7 years post qualification experience in a stock broking or financial markets environment an advantage
  • 3 – 5 years in a senior management including financial management, audit and risk management, budgeting, revenue management, working capital and cash flow management
  • General knowledge of the broader political, economic and social environment
